Programme 2010

Spring Season 2010

Saturday April 17th 2010. Burgate Church. 7.30pm.

J.S.Bach Mass in B Minor.

Following the success of our Winter Concert: Gilbert and Sullivan’s hugely popular work, Patience - and in complete contrast – our Spring Concert, in the beautiful surroundings of Burgate Church will be Bach’s majestic Mass in B Minor.

For our Winter Concert on December 5 2009 Burgate Singers took part in the BBC Radio 3’s nationwide project Sing Hallelujah – the aim of which was to get people all over the country singing the Hallelujah Chorus in 2009, the 250th anniversary of Handel’s birth. As an ‘encore’ to Patience, choir, orchestra, soloist - and audience - joined in a rousing and highly enjoyable performance of the perennial favourite. Thanks to the generosity of all present a substantial sum was raised at the concert for the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal.

Burgate Singers rehearse in Burgate Village Hall, every Sunday 4pm to 7pm.If you enjoy singing and would like to take part in the concert, do come along and join us. There are no auditions – all you need is a love of singing and a desire to perform some of the loveliest music ever written. Burgate Singers, with our dynamic conductor, Alain Judd, have performed a wide range of music from Messiah to Carmina Burana with a great deal of hard work and even more enjoyment. All voices welcome – especially tenors and basses. Why not give it a try? And there’s still plenty of time for you to come along and take part in the Bach concert.
