Programme 2011

April 16th 2011 was a beautiful Spring day and Burgate Church was packed with an enthusiastic audience, crowding in to hear Haydn’s The Seasons. The performance, by the Burgate Singers of this much –loved work was acclaimed by audience and critics alike.  On April 28th, they travelled to London, to St James’ Piccadilly to perform Handel’s Alcina, arriving back in Diss at 1am after another hugely successful performance.
Their next concert will be at 7.30pm on December 3rd at the Corn Hall in Diss – everyone’s fingers tightly crossed, that there will be no repeat of last year’s icy blizzards that turned Diss into a ghost town. This year’s concert will feature the hugely popular Mozart Requiem, which music-lovers can never hear too often. The other work will be Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity, a brief, beautiful, pastoral work, depicting Jesus’ birth as the shepherds would have seen it.

If you love music and singing  and like a challenge do come and join us. There are no auditions. You don’t have to be able to sight-read. Don’t sit at home saying I used to love singing, but I haven’t done any for ages. Come along a give it a try. You’ll be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. You’ll be surprised at what you can achieve. And you’ll have the enormous pleasure of learning and performing wonderful music, under the expert guidance of our conductor, Alain Judd.

We rehearse on Sundays from 4pm -7 pm in Burgate Village Hall. Why not give it a go?
