Events 2014

The Singers hosted a Voice Workshop on 26 April.  There were forty singers who worked hard on vocal technique and on a short section of Messiah.  The day started with registration and coffee; a very substantial buffet lunch was provided and served by members of the choir.  It was a most rewarding experience and a delight to see so many singers from other choirs.

One week later, the Singers performed the chorus parts of Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin in a concert performance in St James’ Church, Piccadilly, London.  The soloists and orchestra were all professionals, and the performance was very enthusiastically received by the audience.  Alain was very proud of the choir’s professionalism, learning the Russian and trying to portray a wide range of ages in the various scenes.

The Christmas Concert will be given in Diss Corn Hall on Saturday 6 December at 7.30 pm.  The programme consists of two Christmas works: Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Cantate de Noël by Arthur Honegger; these will be followed by a performance of the popular Requiem by Gabriel Fauré.  The soloists in the Fauré will be father and son Alistair and Francis Bamford.  The tickets are £15 (concessions available for Friends of the Corn Hall and under 12’s) and are available from the Corn Hall Box Office (01379 652241) or from choir members.
